Adoption Requirements
We need loving families.
CPO Pregnancy and Adoption works with potential adoptive families who:
- Are committed Christians active in their church
- Understand and embrace the concept of Open Adoption
- Make it a priority to maintain regular communication and visits with their child's birth family.
- Have been married for no less than three (3) years
- Agree to avoid corporal punishment and other harsh discipline methods
- Due to the dangers of secondhand smoke, CPO requires that our adoptive families do not smoke.
- Preference give to families that are able to have one parent home full-time, until the child is in Pre-k.
Living in Oklahoma is not a requirement to become an adoptive family through CPO However, since we are an open adoption agency we prefer that our families live in Oklahoma or are able to travel to the Tulsa area often to maintain an open relationship with their child's birth family.
Once accepted, a completed home study conducted by a licensed social worker in the applicant’s state of residence, and meeting Oklahoma standards, is required before CPO can create your profile.
CPO asks local adoptive families to pay an agency fee of $9,000 and provide 100 hours of volunteer work. Out of Area families that are not able to fulfill the volunteer hours will be asked to pay $10,000. Our fees are much lower than many other agencies. All monies are used to pay for operating expenses, professional counseling services, maternity and personal care items for expectant mother’s, support group supplies, and other necessary expenses. The CPO agency fee does not include attorney or legal fees for the adoptive family, you will incur, the cost of your federally required home study, a $300 application fee and the cost of printing life books which ranges from $30 to $100.
We carefully select all of our waiting families and our goal is to have a diverse group for an expectant mom to choose from. Our current need is for couples in the categories listed above.
CPO is NOT agency exclusive. This means you can begin an adoption process with a different agency while waiting on the CPO opportunity to be available. If you meet the requirements listed above and are interested in adopting through CPO, you can learn more about the adoption process here.
